The recommended position for a person experiencing a seizure is to lie them down on their side. This technique, known as the recovery position, is critical for ensuring the safety and health of the individual. By placing the person on their side, you help maintain an open airway, which is essential in case the person vomits or has excess saliva, reducing the risk of choking. This position also allows fluids to drain from the mouth, further minimizing potential hazards associated with a seizure. Other approaches, such as placing the person on their back with feet elevated, can lead to airway obstruction or a higher risk of aspiration. Covering them with a blanket doesn’t provide any practical benefit during a seizure and can hinder monitoring the individual's condition. Holding them still until the seizure ends can lead to injury for both the individual and the person assisting, as they might struggle against restraint.
